Biography Series

You know what makes life good and interesting? It is the ability to learn from other great people, some of those people already served their time in Earth and left a legacy for others. My favorite thing is to learn about them through their own writing and their own perspective of how life unfolded for them. So in the upcoming weeks I will be writing my most favorite biographies in my biography series, the ones that changed my life for good and opened new opportunities in my life. Some of these books caused me to get out of my comfort zone, they challenged myself, created growth, wisdom, understanding, faith, others provided guidance along the way to believe in me and that the universe is a place to create with our minds and actions. I want to share with you some of the greatest books of our times.

  1. Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda

Here is the true story of how this book shaped my life forever.
When I was a teenager this book randomly appeared in places that I visited, 1 time it was offered to me for free in Downtown Denver Colorado, I said no thank you to the person and I continue walking thinking “why does this book appear in my life? I don’t care about the book”. During difficult times in my life where money was very tight, loneliness was apparent, and unsuccess was around me, I went to a small book store with my son, the book was there in front of the table I was sitting; but I ignored it, then weeks later I went to the public library in Denver, there is a room inside that they call the “secret vault”. The book was there waiting for me to be bought, I still ignored it. Until months later, I made a friendship with someone who was very positive, kind and dreamed big, practiced yoga and meditation. This person became a good friend of mine and helped me in my job, but then the person had to move to another country to continue the journey of life. Luckily this book was left for me as a present. 1 week later I started reading the biography of Steve Jobs and watched his documentary, to my surprise Steve Jobs read this biography when he was in his 20’s, he planned a random trip to India to seek guidance from Paramahansa Yogananda.

Months later Steve Jobs came to the US from his amazing journey in India, to create what we know as Apple. All of these events seems like a random coincidence, but to me was the universe speaking to me in a synchronistical way. Everything was clicking together beautifully, the universe was telling me that this book was meant for me to read, so I made up my mind, I started reading the book that challenged my beliefs, my points of view and how I look at the world. First day I read 4 chapters, next thing you know I finished the book in a week, over the passing of time I started learning the yogi way, searching for answers, enrolling myself in yoga, learning from other teachers about meditation and the yoga secrets that have been passed since ancient times. This book created interested in learning from the Bhagavad Gita and the gurus from Paramahansa Yogananda. While I was learning this, my life was changing in huge speed, miracles happened, good people would appear in my journey, dreams of saints and Yogananda would come to me in my daily sleep. It removed me from toxic environments to be in a world of love, sacredness and wisdom.

This book is now a book of wisdom that I have re-read at least 4 times, every year I make a conscious choice to learn and read it. It has the most amazing stories, a wonderful journey filled with intrigue, mystery, surprises and miracles, it will guide your way, it will answer many of your questions, watch how life will unfold as a wonderful miracle for you after you read this book. In my mind, Paramahansa Yogananda is truly a special soul in the universe. I am very thankful for his work and teachings.

Give it a try and see what happens 🙂
